WordPress 2.3, the most recent, version of the popular blogging software had schema changes which rendered many user-created plugins worthless. Many bloggers are reluctant to upgrade because that means they will loose some of their blog’s functionality.
Here is a list of plugins whose author’s took the time to make sure they were compatible with the “Dexter” version of WordPress.
- 404 Notifier
- Akismet
- All-in-One SEO Pack
- Articles
- BackUpWordPress
- Contact Form 7
- DoFollow
- FeedBurner FeedSmith
- Full Text Feed
- Google Sitemap Generator
- Maintenance Mode
- PodPress
- Recent Comments
- Show Top Commentators Sidebar Widget
- Simple Forum
- Text Link Ads
- Twitter Tools
- WP-Cache
- WP-phpMyAdmin
- WP-Polls
I found some great new plugins and I will go off of this list when I upgrade and have to dump some of my older, antiquated plugins. These were my preferred list of plugins. Check to see if your favorite plugins are compatible over at WordPress.

I would also suggest the ShareThis plugin which makes it very easy to submit to social networks or email posts.
