Who doesn’t like a good meme every now and again? This meme was originated by Paul Ruppert and I was tagged by David Dalka of Chicago. Here’s a few little nuggets of knowledge about me.
1. I drive a Yellow Pontiac Aztek.
Yeah, I’ve hear it all, “those are ugly”, “looks like a short bus”, and “no wonder they don’t make them anymore”. I don’t care. It gets good gas mileage, mechanically sound, the rear seats come out, I have more cargo room than most SUV’s, and most importantly, it’s paid off.
2. I wear sandals in the winter.
If you are in an office, there is that one guy that just won’t put the sandals away once the snow starts to fall. I’m that guy. I hate wearing socks and having feet covered. Not like I have the best looking feet it town, it’s just that my feet sweat in socks and closed-toed shoes. If you are a dedicated sandaller(new word?), then I recommend Mephisto sandals, I have had a pair for four years with out any wear on the soles.
3. I am a Star Wars nut.
Three of the best films of all time and three good films. Of course, the original trilogy was the best, and critics must admit that “Sith” melded the two both trilogies together quite well. I have been a fan of Star Wars from the beginning. Now, since my 2 year old likes to choose his movie to watch, he will usually pick from the six. It’s an excuse to add another hash mark to the number of times I’ve seen each. Also, Han shot first. Greedo was asking for it.
4. I am a published photographer.
I’m not a hardcore photographer by any definition of the term, but I do enjoy taking photos. We have a really nice digital. It’s a 7.2 mega pixel Pentax that takes beautiful shots. Most of my good pictures have been accidental. I lined up the shot, and took the pic without much preconception. I have had a Chicago night time landscape shot that has been on numerous promotional ads for a major metal fabricating exposition. Another photo is my picture of the uncompleted bean sculpture in Millennium Park. Apparently, it was difficult to find an in-progress shot of the bean, so they were quite grateful.
5. I participated in Hands Across America.
I remember a balmy afternoon of Sunday, May 25, 1986 like it was yesterday. Actually, I don’t. I was 9 and the only thing I remember is holding someone’s sweaty hand for what seemed like an eternity.
6. I’m a family man.
I have been happily married to my wife for going on six years and we have two boys. The youngest is 2 1/2 months and the oldest is 2 1/2 years. Ironically, I was the least likely of my close friends to find a wife much less kids, and they are all still single.
7. I haven’t gotten “rock star rich” off of the Internet, yet.
Nobody has given me the magic book of sure fire ways to earn from the Internet, but I’m learning everyday. I am shaking the tree, but I don’t have garbage bags of $100’s piling up around the house. It’s all about trail and error, finding what works, also called a learning experience.
8. I can bench press 450 pounds.
Actually, this is complete BS. I don’t remember the last time I actually lifted weights.
