Today, Google made public it’s Social Graph API which is a way for web applications to consume specially tagged content that is designated as public connections. Today, Google announced that they will be adding new features and reporting to their Google Analytics product.
Some site owners woke up today to the watch their hard earned Google Page Rank decrease. There is wide speculation that the search engine has penalized sites for selling text links. My blog was also affected. It went from a PR5 to PR3.
Have you ever wanted to use an interactive Google map on a web page, and got frustrated because it seemed so complex and convoluted? Now, Google gives you a snippet to cut and paste to your web page, blog, IM or email.
You may want to take a peek at your Google’s Webmaster Central account. They recently updated the long overdue external links report. The last time my report was updated was mid-April most will be impressed with the more recent figures.
Google search is an important tool for me as I go about my day. Whether it be looking up scripts, finding tutorials, or looking for another blog post idea. Google is my primary search engine of choice and the numbers don’t lie.
Google wants to the public to believe that their algorithm is the greatest thing since canned beer, but bloggers, SEOs, and spamdexers can see right through the facade. Recently, there has a been tangible evidence that Google’s algorithm isn’t as great as they say it is.
I was looking up the Google Page Ranks of some of our competitors on my favorite page rank checker, and found something quite encouraging. As of Tuesday, May 1st, JasonBartholme.com has a Page Rank of 5! I was really amped and yelled out in the office. Most people don’t know of the ranking or honestly care.
Come on, Google. We’re all waiting for the next toolbar update so we can see what kind of PageRank our sites have earned in the last few months.
On April 6th, Google Labs released Google Voice Local Search. The services is Google’s experiment into delivering local-business search results over the phone.
