How much is your time worth as a blogger?
As a developer, webmaster, SEO, blogger, husband, father, etc, my time is valuable as well as limited. I have participated in paid post sites in the past which pay me, as the blogger, to write about a site or service.
I have recently unsubscribed to a few due to either low quality sites/services to review or the dollar amount that I would receive was not enough.
The Good
Let me start with the service I like. ReviewMe is a sponsored post service which allows you to set the amount you are willing to create a post. It costs an advertiser $150 for a post reviewing their site. Keep in mind ReviewMe takes half of the amount for themselves so that leaves me with $75. That is a dollar amount I can justify for an hour or hour and a half to write a comprehensive review. I think they are a good service and have had a positive experience with them in the past.
The Bad
I have recently unsubscribed to blogsvertise.com because I kept receiving low dollar amount tasks (about $10) per post. I felt it wasn’t worth my time to create a post for $10 dollars. Also, most of their sites they want reviewed are low quality to begin with. Most of the tasks contain text about not mentioning that it is a paid post.
The Ugly
PayPerPost is not my favorite either. A few months ago, I created a simple post, followed the post requirements and never got payment. The post would take two to three days to be rejected each time. Eventually, I ended up deleting the post from my site. The advertiser wasn’t going to be getting any more link love for free. It wasn’t worth the $10 for the post.
None of the other paid posting sites seem worth the time to join.
Currently these are the stats of my blog:
- PageRank 5
- Alexa Rank of 67,564
- Technorati Authority of 184
- Over 100 subscribers through FeedBurner
The numbers could always look better, but not shabby. If a site wants to consume my time when I could be doing other things, they are going to have to pay. Here’s the exception. I don’t mind creating a post as a favor to a colleague or doing a blog post exchange for a for site that I enjoy.
I still haven’t found the perfect dollar amount to say, yes, that is a fair payment for time and to take advantage of my link juice. Have you done sponsored posts in the past? Are they worth your time and effort? Let me know what you think.

I find blogsvertise to be a waste of time, their credibility these days is on the downslide for lack of customer satisfaction.
I do opps for PPP as well as blogitive and I am very satisfied with both and have been paid by both, blogitive get behind with pending opps as well as payments, but they do come through, same deal with PPP.
Hi Breezie,
I hadn’t heard of Blogitive. I’m going to look into it. Thanks for your comment!.
