MyBlogLog Disappoints Me Twice In One Day

Lately, there has been a lot of talk about the security holes and gaming that goes on with MyBlogLog.com. The monthly subscription is worth the three dollars to view the near-live stats. I admit, I check it more than regularly. I had no problem with the site, until today.

Today, Elpresidente asked me if the following link was my site.

http://www.mybloglog.com/buzz/community/2007021511235042/

It links to a post on my blog, and apparently someone is subscribed to it. I never got a notification that there was an another instance of my blog being added to MyBlogLog. Also, why would they allow a community to be setup for one blog entry. I think MBL need a way of verifying a site’s owner. Something like Google Webmaster Central or Technorati, where you put a file or code on your site and MBL pings and verifies. Seems like it would be an easy fix to the situation of people claiming sites that are not theirs.

MyBlogLog made me shake my head again. I discovered that my previous blog ( www.articleonramp.com/blog) was still an active community. When I bought the domain for this blog, I migrated all the posts over and sent a message to MBL support. It took them between 24-48 hours to respond and moved my small community of members to my new blog and got rid of the older blog.

They did migrate the users over and the old blog disappeared from my admin panel. That was about two months ago. It appears they just removed my claim to the blog. Now, a user named sweetness lays claim to the defunct community. I asked a few of my current community members and they were still associated with the old community. How’s that for a clusterf*ck?

Man, that sucks. They better fix that fast or their whole concept is going to implode. I had to remove the widget from my blog because soft porn sites started joining and posting cleavage shots. I run an art blog not a porn blog.

I like the new blog design. It’s cleaner and easier to read.
