My wife and I just got done watching the finale to HBO’s The Sopranos which has been running for over 8 1/2 years. The last episode was deplorable. They tried to tie up loose ends that they should have done throughout this season and end with a sense of “WTF”.
We have watched the show religiously for over the last six years. Once we got into it we went back and watched the previous episodes just to see them all. We, like many other viewers, were pretty engulfed with the show. It had likable characters and a compelling story lines.
The last season has been an utter disappointment. It seemed to scattered with no real focus, and the last three shows have been hurried to kill off most of Tony’s people. Chrissy and Bobby were killed and Sil was put into a coma. That leaves Paully as the main member of Tony’s crew.
The rival family was dissolved with the hot on Phil on the last episode. OK, now what? There is no real resolution other than Paully accepts a new position as to Tony’s intent on taking over the other family’s territory.
A.J. wanted to join the Army. Everyone told him it was a bad idea and Tony offered him a job as an assistant to the producer for a film being produced by Carmine. Meadow sways from studying to be a doctor and wants to become a lawyer. Nothing really out of the ordinary or finale material.
The final scene was Tony, Carmella, and A.J. sitting in a small restaurant. The director was intentional in framing a few patrons as potential hit men. Tony seemed slightly suspicious. Meadow fumbled with parking her car. The patrons moved from were they were and they the scene shows Meadow walking in. Then, Meadow has a surprised look and the screen goes blank.
That’s it. WTF!? It leaves the ultimate resolution to the series wide open. Did the family get wiped out or did they just enjoy a happy dinner. We are still quite upset. We felt like we were robbed of the last 30 seconds. If the family was hit and everyone was killed, good. End on that, not some stupid cliffhanger that seems to have enraged the loyal fan base.

Sorry, had to take a break from SEO to spew some frustration.
